Something Other Than God nominated for Best Memoir & Autobiography in Goodreads 2014 Choice Awards

Atheist to Catholic conversion story up against Robin Roberts’ memoir

SAN FRANCISCO, November 7, 2014 –  The breakout memoir, SOMETHING OTHER THAN GOD: How I Passionately Sought Happiness and Accidentally Found It, was released by Ignatius Press on April 29, 2014. In just seven short months since it was released, it has sold more than 11,000 eBooks and 14,000 hardcovers. It is currently No. 25 in the “Books > Biographies & Memoirs > Leaders & Notable People > Religious” category on Amazon. Now it is on the verge of gaining an even wider audience.

Goodreads, the world’s largest site for readers and book recommendations, with 30 million members, and 34 million reviews, nominated Something Other Than God as one of 15 books in the “Best Memoir & Autobiography of 2014” category.  The autobiographical conversion account by Jennifer Fulwiler is up against Robin Roberts’ memoir, Esther Earl, the inspiration for teen bestseller The Fault in Our Stars, and Stronger, the story about Jeff Bauman, a Boston Marathon bombing survivor.

Readers can vote for Jennifer Fulwiler’s memoir at www.goodreads.com/choiceawards/best-memoir-autobiography-books-2014

Readers have three chances to vote. The opening round lasts until November 8.

The Goodreads Choice Awards are the only major book awards decided by readers! Instead of relying on experts or judges, a team from Goodreads analyzed statistics from the 275 million books added, rated and reviewed on Goodreads in 2014.

Here is what some readers are saying about Something Other Than God on Goodreads:

“It’s not a neat little “God appeared to me on a fluffy cloud!” story. It’s a real story of a life, a family, a husband and wife, struggling toward what is True and Good and Real. Basically, it’s amazing.”

“In an account that reads like a well-written novel, she walks you through her personal journey from hostile atheism to Roman Catholicism. Her fascinating story, intelligent insights, and dry wit made the book a real page-turner.”

“Like most of the internet, I got sucked in and didn’t put this one down until I finished…This is definitely a good story.”

“It was such a joy to read a well-written book with a compelling story. I know I will reread this many times.”

“Funny, intelligent, authentic, and brave.”

“I laughed, I cried, I prayed, I celebrated life. Highly recommended.”
