O Day of Resurrection has arrived
New Camaldoli Hermitage album of chants of the Liturgy of the Hours set to captivate listeners
ATLANTA, Nov. 4, 2014 – O DAY OF RESURRECTION!, a 27-track recording of the New Camaldoli Hermitage’s beautiful chants of the Liturgy of the Hours, is available today from Jade Music via Alternative Distribution Alliance (ADA), the specialty arm of Warner Music Group.
The album was recorded in the chapel of the New Camaldoli Hermitage and is divided into four sections — Vigils, Lauds, Vespers and Compline.
“Many people tell us that even in the midst of the fast-paced day they put on this recording of our chanting the Liturgy of the Hours and they are immediately transported back to New Camaldoli, and can feel a sense of peace wash over them,” says Fr. Cyprian Consiglio, OSB Cam. “Music has a strange magic that way, and especially sacred music. In a culture in which we are bombarded by stimuli, much of which is distracting and annoying, it’s like a cool drink in the desert to listen to the psalms being chanted”
The New Camaldoli Hermitage, a community of Roman Catholic monks, sets aside time daily to chant the Liturgy of the Hours, a community prayer, with songs and readings at specified times during the day and night, according to the rule of St. Benedict.

In 1958, the Camaldolese Benedictine monks, who trace their heritage to the 6th century monastic traditions of Saint Benedict, established New Camaldoli Hermitage in Big Sur. The monks’ labors include hospitality, retreats, running a book store, writing, and original art, pottery and music.
