Encore Presentation for ‘The Drop Box’ to Show on March 16

Audiences get second chance to see award-winning documentary after last week’s sold-out theaters, weather closures

ATLANTA, March 11, 2015 – After a three-day limited release seen by nearly a quarter of a million people in North America last week, audiences can catch an encore presentation of “The Drop Box” on Monday, March 16 at 7 p.m. local time. The movie will be shown at 435 theaters across the U.S.

“The Drop Box” tells the story of South Korea’s Pastor Lee Jong-rak, who builds a “baby box” into the wall of his church to save “unwanted” babies who might otherwise be abandoned by their desperate mothers. To date, Pastor Lee has helped save more than 650 children, many of whom have physical or mental disabilities.

The original three days of “The Drop Box” showings place the film among Fathom Events’ top five largest events ever. Demand to see the movie was so high last week that many were shut out of theaters. Winter weather across the country also prompted closures in cities like Dallas, Louisville and Chicago.

“We’re reading emails and social media posts from people sharing just how much Pastor Lee and his children have touched their lives,” said Focus on the Family President Jim Daly. “When we heard from many others who weren’t able to see this movie, we knew we had to re-release it for an encore presentation.”

A portion of the film’s proceeds will go to support Pastor Lee’s ministry.

In addition, moviegoers who want to help orphans in both the U.S. and globally are encouraged to contribute to the Global Orphan Care Fund. Half of those proceeds will support Pastor Lee’s work in South Korea, with the other half going to Focus on the Family’s Wait No More program, which works with state and local groups to raise awareness of adoption from foster care and equip families to provide “forever homes” for waiting children. To date, more than $350,000 has been raised via the Global Orphan Care Fund for children in need.

“The Drop Box” is being released by Pine Creek Entertainment in association with Focus on the Family, Kindred Image and Fathom Events as a special event featuring a panel discussion. Tickets, locations and pictures for media are available at www.thedropboxfilm.com.
