Pure Flix’s latest film, Do YOU BELIEVE? debuts at #6 at the box office for the March 20-22nd weekend
Audience turnout and positive reviews uphold Pure Flix as the leader in indie faith filmmaking
ATLANTA, March 25, 2015 – Pure Flix’s newest faith film, Do You Believe? debuted at No. 6 at the March 20th weekend box office. With an estimated weekend gross of $3.6 million dollars, and a release to over 1300 theaters nationwide, Do You Believe? resonated strongly with moviegoers, as evident in audience turnout and the positive reviews posted online and on social media.
As reflected in the upcoming Easter holiday, a time that honors Christ and His death on the cross, Do You Believe? will expand by roughly an additional 100 theaters as Pure Flix continues to work with church groups to continue audience momentum.
Do You Believe? features a dozen different souls — all moving in different directions, all longing for something more. As their lives unexpectedly intersect, they each are about to discover there is power in the cross of Christ. The ensemble cast includes Mira Sorvino, Cybill Shepherd, Sean Astin, Alexa PenaVega, Ted McGinley, Brian Bosworth, Andrea Logan White, musician Shwazye and Lee Majors.
“The audience’s positive response, and reviews to Do You Believe? is a reminder that the life-changing message of Christ and the cross is, and always will be, relevant,” said producer Michael Scott. “We believe audiences will be moved by this message for a long time to come.”
The week of the March 20th release, members of the cast attended the Hollywood premiere, and participated in an extensive press tour that featured interviews with “The Today Show,” “Entertainment Tonight,” “Access Hollywood,” “Fox and Friends,” “Good Day NY,” Hallmark’s “Home & Family,” The Blaze TV, “The 700 Club,” EWTN Radio and “The Busted Halo Show,” among others.
“Our hope is that through this film audiences will gain a better understanding of the Lord’s forgiveness and sacrifice, and how He can reach anyone, even in the middle of their most desperate circumstances,” adds producer David A.R. White. “We are touched that this film is resonating with the hearts and souls of film audiences.”
The God’s Not Dead writing team of Chuck Konzelman and Cary Solomon wrote Do You Believe?, which is directed by Jonathan M. Gunn, and produced by Michael Scott, David A.R. White, Russell Wolfe, Elizabeth Travis,\ and Harold Cronk.
In July 2015, Pure Flix will release their next film, Faith of Our Fathers, to theaters, and in May 2015, the leading indie faith film studio is set to begin production on God’s Not Dead 2, which is scheduled for a theatrical release Easter 2016.
Do You Believe? is rated PG-13 for some thematic elements, an accident sequence and some violence. The official movie trailer is available at www.doyoubelieve.com.
