An ‘Old Fashioned’ romance comes home
The little indie movie that could to be released on DVD June 16
ATLANTA, June 8, 2015 – Pure Flix has announced the June 16 DVD release of OLD FASHIONED (PG-13), which centers on former frat boy Clay Walsh and Amber Hewson, a free-spirited woman, who together attempt the impossible: an “old-fashioned” courtship in contemporary America.
OLD FASHIONED currently is the No. 2 DVD in Amazon’s “Hot New Releases – Romance” category.
The theatrical release of OLD FASHIONED opened on 224 screens and grossed an impressive $1.9 million at the box office. The indie film was released the same weekend as the controversial “50 Shades of Grey,” and attracted audiences with its uplifting message centering on the authentic and romantic meaning of love. According to Box Office Mojo, OLD FASHIONED secured the record as the best-performing Christian film in fewer than 300 theaters.
“With the film release of OLD FASHIONED, I wanted to tell a love story that takes the idea of Godly romance seriously and spark some meaningful conversations about love and romance,” said writer and star Rik Swartzwelder. “We believe the DVD release will keep that conversation going; and hopefully, help bring a measure of additional healing and wholeness to those who my still carry wounds or guilt from previous romantic relationships.”
The OLD FASHIONED DVD includes filmmaker commentary, trailers, Ohio extra reels and subtitles (English and Spanish), among other features.
OLD FASHIONED features Swartzwelder as Clay and Elizabeth Roberts (Criminal Minds, CSI) as Amber. The film is co-produced by Nathan Nazario of Motion Picture Pro Studios, Dave DeBorde and Nini Hadjis. The film also stars Dorothy Silver (The Shawshank Redemption), Tyler Hollinger (Black Dog, Red Dog), Lejon Woods (Tomorrow You’re Gone), Nini Hadjis, Maryann Nagel (Take Shelter), Joseph Bonamico (Trumpet in the Land), Lindsay Heath, Anne Marie Nestor and Ange’le Perez.
“OLD FASHIONED rings with the kind of ‘true love’ we all desire for our lives,” says Lisa Hendey, founder of CatholicMom.com and author of The Grace of Yes. “An amazing film for anyone who is looking to truly love in a way that never goes out of style!”
